Choosing the right wedding photographer can be daunting. I have tried to answer some of the questions I regularly get asked below.
How many hours are you there on the day?
I’m yours all day, from whenever preparations begin until the end of the day. I stay until at least after the first dance (if you are having one)
Should I add a second photographer?
Second photographers are ideal for larger weddings to ensure more consistent coverage of weddings guests is achieved. It can also be beneficial when multiple locations are involved, for example getting ready in different locations. It also allows for different views on the day, for example, different ends of the isle. A second photographer can easily be added if required.
How many images will I receive?
This depends on how long your wedding day is and whether there is a second shooter. Typically you receive 300-500 edited images following your Wedding day.
Do I have to have group shots?
No, at all, it’s your wedding so do it your way. If you do want group shoots then I would suggest trying to keep them to 10 of fewer combinations of people, but I’m all yours so will take whatever shots you want. Remember Parents and Grandparents usually love these pictures, so I do get a lot of requests for them. I’m usually quite good at getting these done quite quickly although I always ask for a friendly Usher/Bridesmaid or friend to help me out and round up the troops.
Do you do posed portraits throughout the day?
Usually, we go for a short stroll in a pretty location or the grounds at some point throughout the day. This is typically at the drinks reception or at a convenient time for you both. This is un-staged and usually after the ceremony, so can be a quiet enjoyable time for just the two of you to recharge and take things in. If the weathers nice then I sometimes suggest going for another walk in the evening just before sunset (known as the golden hour) as the light is beautiful.
Do you offer engagement shoots?
Absolutely and actively encourage them. It’s good for me to see how you interact with each other and for you to see my style. It’s also a great way for us to get to know each other before your big day and lots of people use them for invites or guests books. You can check out some of my previous engagement shoots here.
What if our guests want photos?
No problem! I’ll upload all of your final images to a password-protected online gallery. You can then share this link with your family and friends so they can view and download any images they want
Do you have back up equipment?
Absolutely I have two camera bodies, multiple lenses and lots of flashguns and memory cards.
Are you fully insured?
Of course! I’m fully insured with both public liability and indemnity insurance
Do we feed you?
Yes, please! It’s a long day and I will be running around a lot so it’s always nice to have lots of energy. I don’t take photo’s when you and your guests are eating (for obvious reasons) so I tend to have some food then, please. Most venues will feed the “crew” anyway.
Does it matter if you have not worked at our venue before?
Not at all but I will always make an effort to visit the venue before your wedding (sometimes at different times of the day if I can). If the location is far away or abroad then I would go early in the day to view it and scout out lovely places to take the photos.
After our wedding, when do we receive the photos?
I say to allow up to 8 weeks to go through and edit all of your photos. It is often a shorter time this (approx. 6 weeks) however during peak times this can take a little longer. When your photos are ready I will email you the link where you can view and download your images and send the USB in the post.
What happens if you are ill on our wedding day?
I can reassure you that I’m rarely ill (and haven’t missed a wedding yet) but I’m a member of several networks of photographers who cover each other in cases of emergency, so I’m confident I could get cover if required.
When are our payments due?
A deposit (£200) is due to confirm your booking, along with a signed contract. The final balance is due 2 calendar months before your wedding day.
Can we meet for a chat?
Yes, please! You need to make sure you are booking the right photographer for you. You have to not only love the images I take but also me as a person. I’m with you and your guests all day so it’s imperative we meet for a chat (or at the very least a Skype call)
We love your work; how do we book?
Fill out the contacts form and I will contact you for a chat and discuss what you are looking for in a photographer.
